Staff members of the Parliament have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the budget session.
On 6th and 7th January tests were conducted and more than 400 members tested positive.
1400 staff members were tested
Reportedly, 1400 staff members of the Parliament were tested among which over 400 tested positive for Covid-19. And notably, most of those staff were asymptomatic.
According to reports, an official told ANI, “Close to 402 staff were tested positive for COVID-19 from January 4-8 and all samples have been sent to genome sequencing for Omicron variant confirmation.”
They tested positive right ahead of the budget session. However, it has not been cleared as to how many tested positive for Omicron.
Booster doses for MP’s started
As per government guidelines, the Lok Sabha secretariat has started giving booster doses for MPs above 60 years as per government guidelines.
As per a recent order by the DDMA directed all government offices to run with 50% of staff capacity and the rest will work from home.
biometric (daily punching) for attendance has also been exempted by the Central government considering the rise in cases of Omicron.
