Sikkim Police have arrested three persons at Kolkata who allegedly impersonated as Reliance Jio company officials to cheat nearly Rs. 7 lakh from a resident of Geyzing.
A three-member investigating team of Geyzing police station led by PI Silash Tamang were successful in tracking down and nabbing the three accused persons between February 8 and 10 at different locations of Kolkata.
Sikkim Police Team Supported By STF Kolkata
The Sikkim Police team included head constable Bhusan Chettri and LNK Chatra Bahadur Dahal and the operation was supported by Special Task Force of Kolkata Police.
DIG (Range) Bhim Kumar Tamang, in a press statement on Sunday, informed that the three accused persons are presently in custody of Geyzing police for further investigation.
The accused persons are Saurav Kumar Keshri (25), Dhananjoy Jaiswal Porgoahin (28 years) and Subhodeep Dutta Mitra. As per the DIG (Range), the complainant Bishnu Prasad Sharma had lodged a FIR stating that unknown persons had swindled from him an amount of Rs. 6.93 lakh in aggregate through online mode.

They had taken the amount on pretext of installing a Reliance Jio tower in his land located at Bermiok Berthang, Geyzing district. The accused persons had impersonated themselves as the chairman and other officials from Reliance Company.
Following the FIR, a case under sections 419, 420, 468 and 34 of IPC were registered against unknown persons. After meticulous investigations and digital surveillance under the guidance of supervisory officers and technological support from Geyzing police cyber cell, the investigation team was sent to Kolkata to track and arrest the three accused persons.
The Sikkim Police team camped for around 10 days in Kolkata to trace the accused persons and with support of the special task force, Kolkata Police, managed to nab them at different locations.

During the course of investigation, some incriminating articles related to the case have also been seized, it was informed.
