The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed an FIR against former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader, Nabam Tuki, for alleged nepotism and corruption.
According to officials, a fresh FIR has been filed against Tuki by the CBI for allegedly creating fraud in the construction of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school boundary wall in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata.
In its FIR the CBI has alleged that, Arunachal Pradesh officials of the Public Works Department awarded the tender to firms controlled by family members of Tuki, the then minister of PWD in the state, caused wrongful loss to the state government and corresponding “wrongful” gain to the minister and relatives.
The then Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya had awarded the work to Arunachal Pradesh PWD, suo motu in 2005 despite the fact it “did not have required establishment and wherewithal” in the Salt Lake area where construction was to take place.
Back in 2019, the CBI had booked Nabam Tuki on charges of corruption, cheating, and forgery. A case was registered against Tuki and his brother. Tuki, who was then minister of consumer affairs and civil supplies, had given 11 contracts to his family members including his brother which were worth Rs 20 crore.
