Assam: On the night of December 26, the Guwahati Police canceled the driver’s license of as many as 95 individuals.
What happened in Assam:
On Sunday night these individuals were cited violating the rules and they were charged for drinking and driving which followed the cancellation of their driving licenses and an amount of Rs 1000 was charged from these rule violators.
The police said that these 95 persons were hauled at checkpoints across the city.
It is to be mentioned that earlier on December 24, the traffic police said that to ensure that no accidents take place during the New Year, the police will be on strict vigil to track down drunk drivers in the city. They have also said that they have taken a strategic plan to prevent accidents in the city and specifically during the new year.
At the same time, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered the police department to ensure that no accidents take place during the New Year celebrations.
