GMC (The Guwahati Municipal Corporation) initiates de-siltation activities at various locations of the city.
Aim of the initiative:
The initiative has been taken in order to make the city clean and flood-free. A huge amount of garbage disposals were di-silted by the front line workers and high powered super-sucker machines.
Further, the team interacted with the general public, concerned NGOs under GMC, sanitation workers etc and evaluated scope of improvements in the field of garbage disposal, ways to redress water logging problems etc.

Uploading the pictures of the de-siltation work on Instagram the page of Guwahati Municipal Corporation wrote, “We suggest that anyone disposses off any kind of waste in the proper designated area instead of dumping them into rivers and drains which results in clogging of the drainage system and water pollution.”
The post further reads, “We request all the citizens of Guwahati to kindly cooperate with us and help us to keep the city clean.”
