Recent controversy
A large hoarding of PM Modi with regards to vaccination was put at Meherpur Petrol Pump, on November 24, Wednesday. Just on the subsequent following day, Thursday of November 25, Barak Democratic Front (BDF) leader and President, Pradip Dutta Roy set a deadline and gave an ultimatum of 48 hours for the removal of the hoarding.
It was also threatened to have the matter taken into their hands, given if, the district administration failed to do what was asked. Hence, the hoarding was removed on Friday, November 26.
Further, BDF President Pradip Dutta Roy also mentioned all Assamese language posters must be replaced by Bengali ones within the prescribed 48 hours.
Additionally, Dutta Roy stated that Assamese language posters are a violation of the Assam Official Language(Amendment) Act,1961.
This comes after a series of controversies regarding Assamese language Governmental banners in Silchar and following retaliation in other parts of Assam.
