MIZORAM: On September 24, 2021, the Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the auspices of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), held a lecture on “Snake Bite Awareness” in the Tuipang Village Community Hall. The lecture drew a total of 16 villagers.
Assam Rifles’s Motive:
The lecture’s goal was to educate residents about the dangers of venomous snakebites and other reptile bites. The team from Assam Rifles noted the increase in fatalities caused by snakebites during the monsoon season.
Additionally, Assam Rifles successfully conducted it with help of locals, while also making sure that were taught how to recognise the deadly reptile breeds that live in the area, as well as how to keep snakes out of their homes.

ASSAM: Six people associated with People’s Front of India (PFI) allegedly responsible for inciting violence in eviction drive; Says Chief Minister
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma accused six members of the PFI of creating havoc and abetting violence during the Dholpur eviction drive incident in the Darrang district. He said, “A day before the incident, PFI members visited Dholpur in the name of carrying food for the evicted families.
We have the names of six people as new evidence emerges, implicating them in the violence. The government has already sent a dossier to the Centre, seeking a total ban on PFI”

MEGHALAYA: Tourism in Meghalaya to be prioritised twice as: Saleng
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), Saleng Sangma said that one of his prime areas of emphasis is to boost tourism in the Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills region.
He further stressed the need to bring forth innovative tourists attraction props to accentuate and enrich the existing potentiality of the state’s tourism sector which in turn will help generate more employment besides cultivating human resources like select European countries where tourism as an asset stands more established.

SIKKIM: Inspection of the Spiritual Healing Tourism Complex under construction
On September 25, officials inspected the Spiritual Healing Tourism Complex in Nandugaon, which is still under development. The progress of the continuing work was noted by Commerce & Industries chairperson M.B. Chettri (Vyasananda Guruji), architect Sachen C. Dewan, divisional engineer Sonam Bhutia, and land donors.
Chief Minister P.S. Golay has laid the foundation stone for the Tourism Department’s project on January 17 of this year.
The chairperson told the media that the first phase of building for the Spiritual Healing Tourism Complex, which spans 4.5 acres of land, is already underway. The sum approved is Rs. 53 crores. The first phase of construction is expected to be finished by 2023 and will contain an interpretation centre, library/research office, and community/conference hall with a capacity of 3000 people.
TRIPURA: Tripura to overthrow foreign supplies in agarbatti manufacturing
India’s annual consumption of 70,000 MT round bamboo sticks has till date been tended to by 96 per cent imports from China and Vietnam. With manual labour being replaced by user-friendly machines, Tripura is readying to take over the country’s agarbatti industry within the next few years with the current production rate being 2,500 MT which is said to double up to 12,000 MT.
The central government in the year 2019 imposed strict restrictions on customs duty by levelling up to 25 per cent with a restricted list inclusive of bamboo products. With imposed restrictions, importers now require a license from the government. These very restrictions are now pushing Tripura to reclaim its spot in the agarbatti market.
