On February 18, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) municipal councillor along with one other accused for accepting bribe.
CBI arrests AAP councillor for accepting bribe:
The accused Geeta Rawat who was elected as municipal councillor from East Delhi Municipal Council (EDMC) on AAP ticket, will be produced before court along with the other accused Bilal for custody in this case.
Besides, the CBI has filed a case against the AAP councillor on the allegations of demanding an amount of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for extending favour to lay the roof of his building.
After the complainant was asked to pay the bribe by Geeta Rawat, he approached the CBI and informed the agency regarding the incident after which the CBI formed a team and launched an operation regarding the same.
About the accusations:
The complainant was filed on some specific information which holds the directions of the accused who handed over the bribe amount of Rs. 20,000 to Bilal, a vendor operating near the office of the Geeta Rawat.
Vendor arrested by CBI:
The CBI arrested the vendor and later apprehended Geeta Rawat on charges of bribery. Searches are being conducted by CBI officials at the premises of both the accused.
