Popular social media platform Instagram has announced new features to save people from abuse. Many celebrities, public figures, influencers with public accounts get trolls every day. People post hateful comments to them through their fake accounts and continue doing that.
The company has added the ability to limit such pointless interaction and DM requests. It will also now issue warnings when someone tries to post derogatory comments.
The anti-abuse features that Instagram has announced are

The ability for people to limit comments and DM requests during spikes of increased attention. The feature is available to everyone on Instagram.
Stronger warnings while people try to post potentially offensive comments, hashtags, and emojis.
The global rollout of our Hidden Words Feature, which allows people to filter abusive DM requests.

What Instagram has to say to the users?

The company said in a statement, ” We have a responsibility to make sure everyone feels safe when they come to Instagram. We don’t allow hate speech or bullying on Instagram, and we remove it whenever we find it”. The company also added that ” We also want to protect people from having to experience this abuse in the first place, which is why we’re constantly listening to feedback from experts and our community, and developing new features to give people more control over their experience on Instagram, and help protect them from abuse”.
