On January 7, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh inaugurated the Sarita Regional Boxing Academy in Mayang, Imphal.
Statement by the Manipur CM:
According to sources, N. Biren Singh stated that every Manipuri has a strong desire to play games and participate in sports. Despite the fact that it is a small state, they have won many medals for the country in international tournaments, he remarked.
Government provides financial help:
The Chief Minister stated that the government has launched an effort to provide Rs. 15,000 in financial help to a few selected local clubs. “We’re also giving each of the 16 Manipur State League teams Rs. 3 lakh and Hero I-League teams Rs. 1 crore,” he added.
Further the CM praised Arjuna Awardee Sarita Devi for her efforts in establishing a boxing academy to train future boxers in the state. He assured that the state government will seriously explore providing the Academy with every necessary support and help.
