The family members of the abducted 17-year-old teen called for help from PM Modi, threatening the Government to march towards China if they did not receive any help.
Family threatens Government:
Miriam Tarom, was allegedly abducted by the Chinese PLA some days back. The family members of the victim threatened to march towards Chinese territory if the Centre doesn’t respond quickly. “If the government fails to bring back my son, we along with several villagers will cross the border and confront the Chinese PLA camp to bring back my son. We are not even sure whether he is alive or not,” he added.
It’s been a week now that Tarom has been missing and suspected to have been in the custody of the Chinese military.
Earlier, Tarom’s friend Johnny Yuing, who was accompanying him that day, told the authorities that they had lost their way back home from hunting session due to darkness and suddenly Chinese PLA came and took Miriam in their captivity. Yuing had fled the spot.
Chinese Army speaks of the abduction:
However, on January 23, the Chinese Army revealed that they have found a missing Indian boy from Arunachal Pradesh. However, there was no development after that.
Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh from where the victim teen belongs shares an international boundary with China.
Miram Taron, hailing from Zido village in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, went missing near the border with China on January 18 during a hunting trip. Following his disappearance, it was alleged that he was abducted by China’s Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) from inside the Indian territory.
Chinese Army accused of abduction:
The Indian Army had stated earlier that when they received information about Taron, they immediately contacted the PLA through an established hotline system and informed that a man, who was collecting herbs and hunting, has lost his way and could not return. It was alleged that the boy was kidnapped by the Chinese PLA.
The army on January 20, 2022 sought the help of the PLA to locate the missing boy identified as Miram Taron and return him as per established protocol.
Arunachal Pradesh MP Tapir Gao alleged in a tweet on January 18 where he wrote, the Chinese PLA has abducted 17-year-old Miram Touren of Jido village. Taron’s friend Johnny Yaying managed to escape and informed the authorities about the kidnapping by the PLA. Gao said the incident happened near the point from where the Tsangpo river enters India in Arunachal Pradesh. Tsangpo is called Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Brahmaputra in Assam.
Government attacked by Rahul Gandhi:

In the meantime, Rahul Gandhi has attacked the government even after the army has initiated the process to bring the teenager back. Rahul Gandhi has posted in a tweet ‘Sarkar ho to farz nibhao, Miram Taron ko wapas laao’ which means ‘if you are the government, then you abide by your duty and bring back Miram Taron’.
The Defence Ministry PRO from Tezpur, Lt Col Harshvardhan Pandey said, “The Chinese Army has communicated to us that they have found a missing boy from Arunachal Pradesh and the due procedure is being followed.”
Earlier, PRO had informed that the Indian Army has sought assistance from China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) to locate and return a young boy who hails from Arunachal Pradesh and has been reportedly captured by the Chinese army.
“17-year-old youth Miram Tarom of Zido, Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly captured by Chinese PLA across the Line of Actual Control. Indian Army immediately contacted PLA through a hotline, assistance from PLA has been sought to locate and return him as per protocol,” PRO tweeted.
