National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a joint project of IITs and IISc, offers 593 courses in engineering, science, business, humanities, and social sciences.
The online certification courses will be available for free. These courses will be conducted by teachers from IIT and IISc.
Various popular courses to be introduced
Data Science for Engineers, electrical cars, and programming courses such as Python, Java, C, and C++ are among the most popular.
The application procedure for the January 2022 semester is currently open. Students can register at swayam.gov.in. The deadline for applications is January 31.
Multidisciplinary courses for research students
For the January 2022 term, a Hindustani music course, as well as multidisciplinary courses such as research methods for research students, a basic course in ornithology, oral biology for dental students, blockchain and its applications, and online privacy, are among the new offerings.
This semester, the introduction to machine learning course is taught in Tamil, and the signals and systems course is taught in Hindi.
No age limit or prerequisites for enrolling
NPTEL video lectures, assignments, live interactive sessions by faculty, and discussion forums may help people of all ages and walks of life explore their curiosity and enthusiasm. There is no higher age limit or other prerequisites for enrolling in these courses.
NPTEL provides help for students from rural India through internships and soft skills training to meet their needs. Over 1.2 lakh students received exam fee waiver scholarships for NPTEL course certification.
