On Tuesday, a 62-year-old man allegedly killed his estranged wife at midnight around 12:15 in a suicide bomb attack in southern Mizoram’s Lunglei town, said Lunglei district superintendent of police Rex Vanchhawng.
Rohmingliana, was the 2nd husband of the victim, Tlangthianghlimi (61) nearly a year ago they got separated, sources said.
Where did the incident take place?
The incident took place in front of the office of the high-power committee of Lunglei district (district planning board of Lunglei), where the victim was selling vegetables along with her daughter of her prior marriage who is 40 years old.
Statement by eyewitness
However, eyewitnesses said Rohmingliana first sat down beside Tlangthianghlimi and asked her to roll him a local cigarette.
“After he lit the cigarette, Rohmingliana feigned dizziness due to fever and suddenly pounced on her, which was followed by a loud explosion,” according to eyewitness statement.
Lunglei district superintendent’s investigation
According to Lunglei district superintendent, gelatin was used in the suicide bomb, doubted to be disguised inside his garment.
Followed by that incident both Rohmingliana and Tlangthianghlimi were taken to the nearby Lunglei district hospital where they were declared brought dead.
Women’s daughter not injured in the blast
Their bodies were sent to Thiltlang village, about 73 km north of Lunglei after the autopsy was done. Though, the woman’s daughter was not injured in the blast.
The couple had 2 sons and further it was revealed that the husband was known to be a violent man.
