On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with Bhutan’s highest civilian award, ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo‘ as the neighbouring country commemorated its National Day, adding to the list of recognitions by countries across the world.

PM Modi extended his gratitude to Bhutan’s king after he was conferred the country’s highest civilian decoration and asserted India will always cherish the friendship that both the countries share. India will always be supportive in the process of development of the country, he added.
Awards conferred to Modi
In 2020, Modi received the ‘Legion of Merit by the US Government’ award of the US Armed Forces—given for extraordinary admirable performance in the execution of outstanding services and great attainments.
In 2019, PM Modi, was also presented Russia’s highest civilian honour the ‘Order of St. Andrew’ award. In the same year, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) conferred him with its highest civilian honour—‘Order of Zayed Award’.
The Maldives gave Modi the ‘Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin’the highest honour for foreign dignitaries—in 2019.
Carrying the list further, PM Modi received ‘King Hamad Order of the Renaissance’, the top honour from Bahrain, in the same year.
The Prime Minister was conferred with the ‘Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award’, Palestine’s highest honour awarded to foreign dignitaries in the year 2018.
Further adding the list of Modi’s achievements, he also recieved ‘Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud’, the highest honour of Saudi Arabia awarded to non-muslim dignitaries and Afghanistan’s highest civilian honour ‘State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan’ in 2016.
He has also been bestowed with many honours from various international organisations and foundations.
