North Lakhimpur College, an autonomous college in the Lakhimpur district of Assam has reached a new milestone in the field of academics in the region.

As per reports, the Assamese department of the college has started the course for PhD starting this year so that more students take up the language.
The department has earned quite a name for achieving this success for the college. The college will be the first in the state of Assam to introduce a PhD course in Assamese. The course will also bring a new trend in academic achievement.
The North Lakhimpur College gained its autonomous status from the University Grant Commission in the year 2013. This is the first college in the state of Assam to have an autonomous status. The Post Graduate course for Assamese was introduced following the achievement of the status in 2014 and the MPhil course in 2020.
The move to launch the PhD course was initiated in January 2022. The teaching methodology at the current phase is conducted on the ‘Method of Research’.
The launching of the course was commenced by Principal Dr Biman Chandra Chetia and the Head of the Department Dr Arabinda Rajkhowa.
