Manipur: On December 18, the Manipur Government declared an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each to the families of those who succumbed to COVID-19.
About the announcement:
The decision was taken in response to the National Disaster Management Authority’s announcement on September 11, that issued “Guidelines for ex-gratia assistance to next of kin of the deceased by COVOD-19,” says sources.
As per a statement, the following families of the deceased would receive ex-gratia assistance of Rs 50,000 each if the cause of death is verified as COVID-19 death. The compensations will be paid from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
Requirements:
The families of the departed will have to submit their applications, along with documents, to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and the latter has been entrusted to disburse the ex-gratia.
Where to get the application forms?
The applicants may take the application forms from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, who oversees the DDMA in each district. The district administration will inform and deputise officers as needed to grant ex-gratia assistance to the deceased’s next of kin by COVID-19. The officials said that the payment will be made through an Aadhar-linked direct benefit transfer procedure.
