Manipur: On December 25, in a combined operation carried by a team of police and personnel of the 16 Assam Rifles, a rebel of the outlawed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Khabam Lamkhai near Imphal.
What happened in Manipur:
While speaking to a media source on December 26, Imphal east district SP, M. Pradip stated that on receipt of specific information about the presence of some rebels, a combined team of civil and police commandos assisted by some personnel of the 16 Assam Rifles conducted a frisking and search operation near the auto rickshaw parking at Khabam Lamkhai near Imphal.
The combined team blocked up Mayengbam Amarjit (44) of Sugnu who was temporarily staying at Langol Game village in Imphal west district. The team took him under legal custody where while questioning he disclosed that he was a cadre of the proscribed UNLF. He led the combined team to his residence after disclosing that some arms and ammunition were stashed there.

Mr. Pradip said, “We recovered one 9 mm pistol (Glock) with one magazine, one 9 mm pistol (Sig Sauer) with magazine, one .22 pistol with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, 43 assorted rounds of live ammunition. The team also recovered one scooter and a mobile handset from the arrested rebel”
