Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, December 18 announced that the services at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital will be shut from January 1, 2022.
The Chief Minister made this statement during his visit to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on Saturday night.
What did CM Sarma say?
He stated that MMCH will be shut down as construction for the second medical college will commence in Guwahati.
He further stated that the Pandu FRU and Dhirenpara hospital will be operational for the patients undergoing treatment at MMCH under GMCH.
“The doctors of MMCH will be able to provide services to the patients at pandu FRU and Dhirenpara hospital,” the CM added.
No Govt Doctors to privately
He asserted that “No government doctors will be able to do private duties during their duty time in the government hospitals. no doctors will be able to leave duty early”. As it came to its knowledge lots of doctors works in private nursing homes.
CM sarma further informed that the services of the GMCH’s new Super-specialty block will be operational from February 2022.
