Recent crimes in Dhubri
In December 2020, Eight persons were nabbed after the Dhubri Police disrupted a robbery attempt at Salkocha under the Chapar police station.
According to authorities, a police team led by Bilasipara SDPO Bhargav Muni Das and IPS Sushant Singh rushed to the scene after receiving a tip and apprehended two people. Two more gang members who attempted to flee were apprehended following a chase, while three other gang members were apprehended during a raid. Several weapons were recovered from the gang members’ possession by cops. The accused is accused of committing many robberies in the past, according to police.
“These gang members hail from the char (riverine) area, where there is a lack of education and job opportunities. Among the arrested members, one of them had been in jail and was
released on Tuesday. Two days later, he was involved in this robbery attempt,” Dhubri SP said.
The gang’s strategy, according to the Dhubri police chief, was simple: members would first work as laborers or carpenters in a house, then strike at night once they had a detailed understanding of the layout and family members.
Dhubri Police tweeted, “7 ARRESTED. Attempted armed Dacoity foiled under Salkocha OP of Chapar PS. They tried breaking into 3 Houses. In a well-coordinated sweeping action, Police teams caught 2 from the spot, 2 after the chase, and 3 after Raids. Materials seized! Hunt on for more! @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam.”
