Assam: 7 top Police officers test positive for Covid-19

Many senior police officers from the Assam Police Department were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, amid the Omicron panic.

Top 7 police officers

ADGP Hiren Nath, DIG Satyaraj Hazarika, Sonitpur SP Dhananjay P. Ghanawat, Baksa SP Rajen Singh, Sadiya SP Mohanlal Meena, Goalpara SP V.V. Rakesh Reddy, and CID SP Pranabjyoti Goswami have all tested positive for COVID-19 virus, according to reports.

Over 100 senior police officers, including 94 superintendents of police (SP), additional superintendents of police (ASP), and sub-divisional police officers (SDPO), attended the second edition of the superintendents of police (SP) conference at the Zaloni Club in Duliajan, Dibrugarh district, from January 3 to 4, 2022.

The second edition of the superintendents of police (SP) conference was started in Duliajan by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Spike in positivity rate across Assam

Meanwhile, case positivity in the state increased sharply on Sunday, rising from 3.73 percent on January 8, 2022 to 6.48 percent on January 9, 2022.

In the last 24 hours, 988 new Covid-19 cases have been discovered across Assam.

Kamrup Metro was responsible for 490 of the total cases.There are 5,087 active Covid-19 cases in the state right now.
