In a video circulated widely on social media, an Indian Embassy official is seen misbehaving with a woman who was applying for an urgent visa. His behaviour has been heavily criticised on social media.
About the video
The man in the video can be seen returning back the papers to the women submitted for obtaining the visa. When asked the reason, there was no reply from the official.
His behaviour was termed as boorish.

The woman was in urgent need of the visa and had visited the consulate in NewYork to get one a day after her father’s death.
Netizens have been tagging senior bureaucrats and ministers, requesting them to take immediate action.
Reactions garnered from people
Talk show host and actor Simi Garewal posted the clip on Twitter, dubbing the officer’s behaviour as “obnoxious” as he is seen pointing a finger at the woman and refusing to listen to any requests.
Earlier another Twitter user, Rakseh Krishnan Simha, had posted the same video and criticised the officer’s behaviour.
Action taken by the officials at Embassy
A statement posted on the official Twitter account of the Consulate General of India, New York, stated that the incident was personally reviewed by the Consulate General.
They asked the viewers to not relate to the staff’s rude behaviour with the “norms and guidelines of public functioning” and a disciplinary action against the concerned officer has been initiated.
