Punjab CM seeks immediate transfer for the capital city of Chandigarh to Punjab. As per him, the capital should always reside with the parent state as it has always been the case whenever a state was divided.
Transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has moved a resolution today asking for the capital city of Chandigarh to reside with Punjab. The decision to address the Assembly has been made in compliance with the sentiments of the people of Punjab as a whole.
As per him, “initially when a state is divided the capital is always remains with the parent state”.
Bhagwant mann said in his resolution that, “For maintaining harmony and taking the sentiments of people into account, this House once again recommends to the state government to raise the matter with Central government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab”.
