As the number of COVID-19 cases in Shillong and East Khasi Hills continues to rise, the district administration of East Khasi Hills has placed additional restrictions to halt the virus’s spread and avert an uncontrollable outbreak.
All stores in the Shillong Urban Agglomeration have been told to close by 8 p.m., while restaurants and cafes must close by 9 p.m., according to an order issued on Saturday.

According to a report by The Shillong Times, “Shops and vendors will remain closed on Sundays,” according to the administration’s most recent edict. It did, however, state that pubs and wine shops will be governed by a separate order, which had not yet been issued at the time of reporting this story.
MLA comments on state’s battle with Covid-19
Mawlai MLA PT Sawkmie responded to the COVID-19 developments by saying that lockdown and even the closure of businesses, markets, and public transportation should be avoided.
Sawkmie stated that the continuous battle against COVID-19 has taught him a lot over the last two years and that he wants the Meghalaya administration to take the finest approach and strategy that would not harm the state’s economy or people’s livelihood.
