GUWAHATI (TNEC Exclusive): On Wednesday, popular Assamese author Nilutpal Gohain organised a book reading cum signing event for his recent publication “The Legend of Lachit Borphukan”.
The event was organised on the occasion of Lachit Divas at Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre, Guwahati, Assam.
Glimpses of the event
The team of ‘The North-Eastern Chronicle‘ attended the event which begin at 4:30 PM, starting with the traditional felicitation ceremony and was followed by an introductory speech by Author Nilutpal Gohain.
Gohain spoke about his book “The Legend of Lachit Borphukan” in brief and also read out a few chapters from the book, specifically Chapter 1 in brief and the final chapters summing up the story while ensuring not to give any spoilers.
More about the author Nilutpal Gohain
Nilutpal Gohain is a government employee who works for the Government of Assam as an Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies. He attended Nagaon’s Kendriya Vidyalaya for his education. He received the First Prize of the Kavi Sammelan three years in a row from the time he was in school until he graduated in 2009.
In 2015, he cleared the Assam Civil Service exam and joined the Assam Cooperation Department’s Allied Service. He has been in his current position since then. After completing his hunt for bread and butter in 2017, he began his writing journey.
Muse India, Spillwords, Setu-the multilingual, The Hans India, Poets India, Youth ki Awaz, and other print and online magazines have published many of his poetry and short tales. His short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies, including ‘A Book Called Home,’ ‘City of Screams,’ ‘A Fallen Leaf,’ and ‘Shattered,’ all published by Half Baked Beans.’
Nilutpal was one of the winners of Half Baked Beans’ first Co-Author Endeavor, and as a result of the project, he co-authored the dystopian thriller ‘2035’ with Shruti Jain (A resident of Canada).
The book is doing well on Amazon and Goodreads, with excellent reviews. The novel also received the Sharing Stories Book Awards’ Best Sci-Fi Novel for the year 2021.
Nilutpal enjoys giving real-life events a creative makeover since his Leo instinct of being meticulously watchful rarely fails him. He believes in perception rather than fact because one person’s truth could be another’s deception. He may generally be found in the kitchen trying out a new recipe when he is not writing.
History of Lachit Divas
Lachit Divas (Lachit Day) is celebrated annually in the Indian state of Assam on November 24, to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom army General Lachit Borphukan. Born in the year 1622, Lachit Borphukan is known for his military intelligence in the Battle of Saraighat.
