A total of three people were arrested by the Dhubri Police on Friday on the grounds of running a kidnapping and extortion racket in Dhubri District, Assam.

As per sources, the three people who have been arrested has been identified to be members of Kamtapur Liberation Organisation. Out of the three, one of them is suspected to be a former member of the organisation.
The accused were arrested from the district on Friday night.
Abhijit Gaurav who is the Superintendent of Police led the team and arrested the accused – Narayan Barman who also goes by Bikram Barman. He is a suspected surrendered cadre of the organisation hailing from Bongaigaon.
According to police reports, “he was staying at jhagrarpar area near newly constructed Dhubri Medical College and Hospital and we have recovered six demand letters and a 7 mm pistol from his possession.”
The other accused has been identified – Tarun Rai, and Pranav Namo Das. Both the accused are from Chaibari Hindupara and Shantipur respectively.
