A distressing incident unfolded at a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, where a woman identified as Ishrat suffered critical injuries after a police officer accidentally discharged his gun while she awaited her turn for a passport-related inquiry.

The alarming incident occurred around 2:50 pm, resulting in Ishrat being rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The chilling turn of events unfolded as Ishrat stood at the police station awaiting her passport-related query. Reports indicate that a police officer, handling a firearm just a few feet away, inadvertently fired the weapon, striking Ishrat and causing her to collapse.
Immediate medical attention was administered as Ishrat was swiftly taken to the hospital. Serious allegations emerged from the victim’s family, alleging harassment by the officer responsible for her passport verification. They claimed that a dispute over money escalated, culminating in the officer firing the shot that injured Ishrat. Inspector Manoj Sharma has been suspended, and a criminal case has been initiated against him in response to the grave accusations. Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with Kalanidhi Naithani, SSP of Aligarh, confirming the suspension of Inspector Sharma.
The injured woman is currently under medical observation, while investigative teams are rigorously examining the footage of the distressing occurrence.
