Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s great military victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which also resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh. On December 16, the Indian Armed Forces, including veterans, civilians, and students, commemorate and pay gratitude to their warriors’ sacrifices.

On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, an army mela was held at Jorhat Stadium Ground. It was mostly conducted for students in Jorhat.
Display of arms and Dog show
A variety of arms and weapons, as well as technical machinery, were on display. Officers explained the armed forces and weapons to the students. There were selfie stations and movie projection stations put up.

At the conclusion, a spectacular Dog Show was presented, with dogs participating in a parade and spontaneously responding to each command. They marched into the stadium and performed an obstacle jumping demonstration as well.

They finished with a defence tracking presentation, in which the dogs used their sense of smell to track random persons from the crowd, similar to how they discover enemy in conflicts.
It was a fantastic and exciting event for all of the students, and they all learnt a lot about the military and had a great time.
