A forest guard was attacked by an elephant in the Lanka area of Hojai district of Assam.
According to information the guard is in a critical condition now. injured during an elephant attack on Tuesday.

The forest guard was chasing elephants
The guard identified as Shivajit Sharma was injured while he was trying to chase away a herd of wild elephants.
He was attempting to move a herd of wild elephants who came out of the forests into the settlements in search of food.
During the process an elephant turned and attacked the team of forest officials.
The forest guard somehow saved his life
Following the incident, Shivajit was injured but he somehow managed to save his life. Later he was taken to Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital.
Such incidents of wild elephants attacking as they come out of forests in search of food has been on a rise. The victims have lost their lives in such attacks of elephants.
One such incident was, when a 45-year-old man named Rajib Gogoi was trampled to death by a wild elephant in upper Assam’s Margherita West Range forest office of Digboi Forest Division under Tinsukia district.
Again, on December 18, in the Tamarhat of Dhubri district,Assam, a wild elephant was following and assaulting a guy as he attempted to flee.
