On Saturday, October 9, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that his party does not want votes from Miyas since they are allegedly involved in many activities that degrade Assamese culture and language.
CM Sarma declared during the India Today Conclave 2021 that Muslims who unlawfully invaded the state is to blame for the state’s loss of identity, culture, and land.
He further stated that the encroachments in the state are increasing as the number of immigration Muslims grows. “This is how many Assamese people think. This procedure began prior to the country’s independence. “I’m carrying the weight of history on my shoulders,” the chief minister added.
Assam Land occupancy
We removed them because there are 77,000 acres of land available. This land cannot support 1,000 families. Our regulation states that no single family can own more than 2 acres of land. We must provide land to a large number of individuals. If people intrude on land, we must expel them. Eviction is a never-ending process. “Assamese people from the area are also being evicted.” “There will be no communallization on this,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the India Today Conclave 2021.
Gauhati Court on eviction
Earlier, the Gauhati High Court, calling the occurrence in Assam’s Darrang district a “sad state of affairs” and a “great tragedy,” ordered the BJP-led state administration to produce a detailed affidavit on the eviction effort on Thursday. During a hearing on a PIL filed by Debabrata Saikia, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assam assembly, and a suo motu petition filed in the case, the court ordered the state government to produce the document within three weeks.
National Rehabilitation Policy
In his petition, Saikia asks the court to halt the eviction process and order the state government to compensate residents and follow rehabilitation guidelines.
The high court also asked the state administration if it considered the National Rehabilitation Policy did not apply to Assam and ordered it to provide a thorough affidavit on the subject within three weeks.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, speaking on the Assam government’s drug-fighting efforts, said narcotics were recovered at a rate of roughly Rs 2 crore per day. The government has detained 2,000 traffickers and 500 land brokers in his first 100 days as chief minister.
Himanta Biswa Sarma on Priyanka Gandhi’s sweeping video
Sarma dismissed a video of Congress national secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra scrubbing the floor of a guest home in Sitapur as “nothing remarkable” and predicted that the general public would be unimpressed. “At home, I’ve always watched my mother clean the floor.” The broader public, on the other hand, will be underwhelmed. It’s not a huge deal. What makes a woman scrubbing the floor newsworthy? Why are you making such a smear campaign against your mother? It’s also not right the way she (Priyanka) sweeps,” Sarma added. Following an effort to visit Lakhimpur Kheri, where eight people, including four farmers, were killed in violent riots, Priyanka Gandhi was imprisoned at a guest house in the Sitapur region of Uttar Pradesh earlier this week.
