He was trying to flee from a police vehicle by jumping when another police vehicle hit him. However, he was injured then and he was immediately admitted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital but the doctors declared him dead.
Furthermore, 3 police personnel are badly injured and the car got severely damaged. Police personnel are under treatment and observation.

A mob of about 50 individuals allegedly attacked the trio travelling together after a road collision that injured a pedestrian.
Animesh had gone to Jorhat to make a purchase, but he and two others were caught up in a misunderstanding when the crowd gathered to help the victim, according to Dy365.
According to police sources,the 28-year-old AASU leader from Dergaon in the neighbouring Golaghat district, travelled to Jorhat with local TV reporter Mridusmanta Baruah and another individual.
The three people who were hurt were rushed to the hospital, but the AASU leader was declared dead when they arrived.
