The Asian Institute of Nursing Education (AINE), North Guwahati, successfully organized its 2nd International Conference on the theme “Unified Leadership in Nursing: Bridging Clinical Practice, Management and Education” on March 27–28, 2026, at the Gauhati Medical College Auditorium.
The conference brought together nearly 600 delegates from 95 institutions across India and abroad, including nursing professionals, academicians, researchers, and students. The event served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and global collaboration, reinforcing the importance of leadership in transforming modern healthcare systems.
With participation from both national and international experts, the conference highlighted Assam’s growing prominence as a hub for academic and professional engagement in the healthcare and nursing sectors.
Inaugural Session Sets the Tone for Collaboration
The inaugural session began with a warm welcome address by Ranju Rani Das, Principal of AINE, who extended her heartfelt greetings to dignitaries and participants. She emphasized the need for unity among nursing professionals and the importance of bridging the gap between clinical practice, education, and management.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Anup Kumar Barman, Vice-Chancellor of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Assam. Guests of Honour included Punam Gogoi, former ACS and Founder of Career Class, Guwahati, and Junu Sarma, Registrar of the Assam Nurses’ Midwives’ & Health Visitors’ Council.
The presence of international dignitaries such as Vijaya Rao and Tracy Carol Ayre from SingHealth, Singapore, along with Madhurjya Borah from GNRC Ltd., further elevated the significance of the conference and strengthened global perspectives in nursing leadership.

The keynote address was delivered by Thankam Gomez, Founder & CEO of Cygnia Healthcare and Founder President of ANEI. She highlighted the evolving role of nurses as leaders, innovators, and change-makers in healthcare systems.
She stressed that modern nursing extends beyond bedside care, encompassing decision-making, policy influence, and technological adaptation. Her address focused on resilience, adaptability, and innovation as critical traits for nursing professionals navigating complex healthcare environments.
She also encouraged participants to embrace interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous learning, ensuring that nursing professionals remain at the forefront of healthcare transformation.
Scientific Sessions Highlight Emerging Trends in Nursing
The conference featured a diverse range of plenary sessions and scientific presentations addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities in nursing.
Tracy Carol Ayre spoke on digital transformation in nursing practice, emphasizing the integration of technology to improve patient care and global partnerships. Thankam Gomez elaborated on sustaining the nursing workforce through resilience and innovation.
Ang Shin Yuh highlighted evidence-based practices as a cornerstone for strengthening nursing excellence, while Abanti Gopan discussed innovative teaching strategies that enhance clinical competencies among students.
Havovi Fouzdar from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital addressed workforce sustainability, focusing on strategies to support and retain skilled nursing professionals. Arunjyoti Baruah from Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health emphasized mentorship and capacity building as key drivers in developing future nurse leaders.
A panel discussion on “Nursing-Led, Team-Driven Leadership: Advancing Interprofessional Collaboration in Healthcare Organizations” further encouraged dialogue on teamwork, leadership, and integrated healthcare delivery.
Academic Exchange Through Research and Debate
The conference provided a strong platform for academic exchange through paper presentations, poster displays, and innovation showcases. Participants presented research findings addressing critical issues such as patient safety, clinical efficiency, healthcare policy, and technological advancements.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sabita Bayan, Vice-Principal of AINE, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, participants, and organizing members for their support and contribution.
