Coal India which is the world’s largest coal miner has issued that they will be importing fuel to meet the needs of the growing population. As per Reuters, a letter was sent to the power ministry that raises the concern about the fuel shortage in the country.
Coal crisis in India
As per reports, this will be the first time since 2015 that India will be importing fuel in order to avoid the situation it faced in April, when the country suffered the worst power cuts.
According to the Federal Power Ministry, “India would import fuel for blending on the government to government basis and supply to thermal power plants of state generators and independent power producers.”
The country already faces an extreme fear of power cuts during the last quarter of 2022. The country is expected that there will be an increase in the demand for fuel as an expectation of electricity will rise higher.
