Prolonged lockdowns have taken a toll on everyone especially the poor section of society. Mizoram’s lone BJP MLA, Dr. BD Chakma couldn’t agree less as he alleged that the state government headed by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, is clueless over how to handle the pandemic situation and repeated lockdowns in the state has done more harm than good to the people, particularly the poor and the needy families. Chakma wants the Mizo National Front (MNF) state government to find an alternative way for curbing the covid situation.
“The business backbone in the state is fully distorted now. Poor people are about to die due to loss of income,” stated Dr. BD Chakma.
Chakma, further, suggested that the government find the cause of the rising Covid-19 cases, upgrade its health infrastructure and extend financial assistance to all families.
Chakma suggested that the portion of the money allocated for the Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP), for 2021-2022, should be utilised to help the needy.
