Controversies surrounding the new Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports, Nisith Pramanik’s educational qualification surfaced soon after he took charge of the office on July 9.

Nisith while contesting in state assembly election from Cooch Behar in West Bengal mentioned in the affidavit that his highest education qualification was of Class 10 board examination. Whereas, his profile on the Lok Sabha website shows his educational qualification as Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A).

Interestingly, Pramanik has not just produced misleading information on his qualifications, but there are also 11 criminal cases registered against him during the 2019 elections and 13 cases in the 2021 elections which include charges of murder, dacoity, theft, and possession of explosives. These points were raised by several Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders from the Cooch Behar as he was given a slot in the Ministry even after having so many criminal charges against him.
